Mission Profile

The Saturn V-D (Saturn VD) was a proposed three-stage American super-heavy launch vehicle concept in the Saturn family, a derivative studied under the Apollo Applications Program for extended lunar and planetary missions. Standing approximately 111 m tall with a 10.1 m core diameter, it would have used upgraded stages beyond the standard Saturn V. Conceived around 1965, the Saturn V-D was among several advanced Saturn variants studied but never developed as NASA's budget declined after Apollo.
