Mission Profile

The Atlas SLV3B Agena D was a two-stage American launch vehicle in the Atlas family, pairing a standard-length Atlas booster with the versatile Agena D restartable upper stage for classified military missions. Standing 28.7 m tall with a 3.1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 120 tonnes, it generated 1,880 kN of liftoff thrust. First flying in April 1966, the Atlas SLV3B Agena D launched heavy military reconnaissance and signals intelligence satellites into orbit during the late 1960s and 1970s.
