Mission Profile

The Delta E (Thor-Delta E, DSV-3E) was a three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, an early variant with improved upper stages over the Delta C for increased performance. Standing 28 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 57 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 420 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in November 1965, the Delta E launched NASA scientific and applications satellites including early weather and communications platforms during the mid-1960s.
