Mission Profile

The Voskhod (11A57, Voskhod Launcher) was a three-stage Soviet launch vehicle in the R-7 family, an upgraded Vostok variant with increased payload capacity to launch the heavier multi-crew Voskhod spacecraft. Standing 45.3 m tall with a 3 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 305 tonnes, it generated 4,070 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 5,900 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in November 1963, the Voskhod launcher carried the first multi-person crew (Voskhod 1) and supported the first spacewalk (Voskhod 2), as well as launching numerous Zenit reconnaissance satellites.
