Mission Profile

The UR-200 (8K81, SS-X-10) was a two-stage Soviet intercontinental ballistic missile and potential space launch vehicle in the UR-200 family, developed as a competitor to the R-36 for strategic nuclear deterrence. Standing 26.3 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 136 tonnes, it generated 1,304 kN of first-stage thrust. First flying in November 1963, the UR-200 completed a successful test programme but was cancelled in favour of the competing R-36 design, though its technology influenced the later UR-100 series.
