Mission Profile
The Atlas D Antares 2 (SM-65D Antares 2) was a two-to-three-stage American launch vehicle in the Atlas family, pairing an Atlas D booster with an Antares 2 solid-fuelled upper stage under the Atlas ICBM Program. Standing 28 m tall with a 3.1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 118 tonnes, it generated 1,630 kN of liftoff thrust. First flying in April 1964, the Atlas D Antares 2 launched military payloads into specialised orbits.
