Mission Profile
Jupiter (DIRECT v3.0) 120 LEO Cargo Extended is a heavy-lift launch vehicle variant from the grassroots DIRECT proposal, featuring an extended payload fairing configuration on the 87-meter two-stage vehicle using Space Shuttle Main Engines and solid rocket boosters. Studied around 2010, this extended-fairing version could deliver 44,000 kg to LEO while accommodating larger-diameter payloads such as propulsion stages or habitation modules. The DIRECT proposals were reviewed by NASA but the Space Launch System architecture was ultimately selected.
