Mission Profile
The Long March 2D (CZ-2D) is a two-to-three-stage Chinese launch vehicle in the Long March 2,3,4 family, a versatile workhorse derived from the DF-5 ICBM for sun-synchronous and low Earth orbit missions. Standing 41.1 m tall with a 3.4 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 232.3 tonnes, it generates 2,962 kN of liftoff thrust and can deliver 3,500 kg to low Earth orbit or 1,050 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in August 1992, the Long March 2D has become one of China's most frequently launched vehicles, deploying Earth observation, remote sensing, and technology demonstration satellites at a high tempo.
