Mission Profile

The Delta IV M+(5,4) (Delta IV Medium+ 5,4) was a two-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, the most powerful Delta IV Medium+ configuration featuring a 5 m diameter upper stage and four GEM-60 solid rocket boosters under the EELV programme. Standing 66.4 m tall with a 5.1 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 404 tonnes, it generated 5,073 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 12,900 kg to low Earth orbit or 6,160 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in December 2009, the Delta IV M+(5,4) launched heavy national security and NASA payloads before the Delta IV family was retired in favour of the Vulcan Centaur.
