Mission Profile
The SpaceShipTwo (Scaled Composites Model 339, VSS Unity, VSS Enterprise, Tier Two) was a single-stage American air-launched suborbital spaceplane in the SpaceShip family, designed by Virgin Galactic for commercial space tourism. Standing 18.3 m long with a 4.3 m fuselage width and a launch mass of 13.6 tonnes, it was carried to altitude by the WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft. First flying under rocket power in April 2013, SpaceShipTwo conducted several crewed suborbital flights carrying paying passengers and researchers above 80 km before the programme was retired in favour of the next-generation SpaceShipThree.
