Mission Profile

The Delta N (Thor-Delta N, DSV-3N) was a three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, featuring an upgraded Rocketdyne RS-27 first-stage engine for improved performance over earlier Delta variants. Standing 28 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 64 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 590 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in August 1968, the Delta N launched several NASA scientific and applications satellites during the transition from early to mid-generation Delta vehicles.
