Mission Profile

The Proton-M (8K82M) is a three-to-four-stage Russian heavy-lift launch vehicle in the Proton family, the modernised version of Russia's workhorse heavy launcher with improved digital flight control and performance. Standing 58.2 m tall with a 7.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 705 tonnes, it generates 10,040 kN of liftoff thrust and can deliver 23,000 kg to low Earth orbit or 6,920 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in this configuration in July 2021, the Proton-M has been a mainstay of Russian government and commercial heavy satellite launches, though its career is winding down as the Angara A5 takes over.
