Mission Profile

Delta IV HLV GEM was a conceptual variant of the Delta IV Heavy studied around 2003, proposing to augment the three-core configuration with additional GEM-60 solid strap-on boosters for maximum payload performance. The concept was explored during EELV program planning to assess the theoretical upper performance limit of the Delta IV architecture. It was not developed as the standard Delta IV Heavy met US government requirements without additional boosters.
