Mission Profile

Diamant BP4 is the final variant of France's Diamant orbital launch vehicle, featuring a larger P4 liquid-propellant strap-on booster attached to the Diamant B core for improved payload performance to LEO and sun-synchronous orbit. Standing 21.6 meters tall with a 190 kg LEO capacity, it first flew on 6 February 1975 and successfully launched four satellites before the program was retired to focus resources on Ariane. Diamant BP4 represented the ultimate evolution of France's first-generation independent launch capability.
