Mission Profile

Firefly Alpha is a two-stage commercial orbital launch vehicle developed by Firefly Aerospace, powered by four Reaver engines burning liquid oxygen and RP-1 on the first stage and a single Lightning engine on the second. Standing 29.5 meters tall with a 1,030 kg sun-synchronous orbit capacity, it made its maiden flight on 3 September 2021 and achieved orbit on its second attempt in October 2022. Firefly Alpha has since become a reliable small satellite launcher, delivering payloads for NASA and commercial customers from Vandenberg Space Force Base.
