Mission Profile
The Scout X-3A (Scout X3A) was a four-stage American launch vehicle in the Scout family, an early improved variant with slightly enhanced motor performance. Standing 22 m tall with a 1.1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 18 tonnes, it generated 464 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 68 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in August 1962, the Scout X-3A launched early NASA scientific satellites during the formative years of the Scout programme.
