Mission Profile

The Chollima-1 (Cheonlima-1) is a three-stage North Korean launch vehicle in the Chollima family, a new-generation rocket designed to place reconnaissance satellites into orbit. Standing 28 m tall with a 2.4 m core diameter, it uses technology distinct from the earlier Unha series. First flying in May 2023, the Chollima-1 achieved its first successful orbital insertion on its third attempt in November 2023, placing the Malligyong-1 spy satellite into orbit amid international condemnation.
