Mission Profile

Naro-1 (KSLV-1) is South Korea's first orbital launch vehicle, developed in partnership with Russia using a Khrunichev-supplied liquid-propellant first stage derived from the Angara Universal Rocket Module and a domestically developed solid second stage. Standing 33 meters tall with a 100 kg LEO capacity, it made its maiden attempt on 25 August 2009 after years of delays, and finally achieved orbit on its third attempt on 30 January 2013. Naro-1 made South Korea the 11th nation to independently launch a satellite into orbit.
