Mission Profile

The Soyuz-ST-A (Soyuz ST-A, Soyuz at CSG) was a four-stage Russian launch vehicle in the R-7 family, a variant of the Soyuz-2.1a adapted for launch from Europe's Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana. Standing 46.3 m tall with a 3 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 312 tonnes, it generated 4,150 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 2,800 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in December 2011, the Soyuz-ST-A benefited from the equatorial launch location to deliver higher GTO payloads than possible from Baikonur, operating under the Arianespace marketing umbrella until Russia's invasion of Ukraine ended the programme in 2022.
