Mission Profile

The Delta 3924 (Thor-Delta 3924) was a three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, using nine Castor IV solid rocket augmentation motors and a PAM-D third stage for geostationary transfer capability. Standing 35.4 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 207 tonnes, it generated 3,310 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 1,570 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in October 1982, the Delta 3924 launched commercial communications satellites during the peak of the early commercial satellite era.
