Mission Profile
The SLS Block 1 (2011 Concept) (Space Launch System Block 1) was a proposed two-stage American super-heavy launch vehicle concept in the SLS family, the initial baseline configuration studied during the Space Launch System programme's early design phase. Standing approximately 97 m tall with an 8.4 m core diameter and a projected liftoff mass of 2,500 tonnes, it would have generated 35,100 kN of liftoff thrust and delivered 70,000 kg to low Earth orbit. Conceived around 2011, this early Block 1 concept evolved through several design iterations before the flight configuration of SLS Block 1 that launched Artemis I in 2022.
