Mission Profile

The Delta L (Thor-Delta L, DSV-3L) was a three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, an improved variant with a longer-burning second-stage engine for increased orbital performance. Standing 28 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 59 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 510 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in August 1969, the Delta L launched several NASA scientific satellites during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
