Mission Profile
The YaChR-2 was a proposed single-stage Soviet nuclear test vehicle in the R-7 lineage, studied as a high-altitude rocket for weapons effects research. Standing 17.7 m tall with a 1.7 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 20.4 tonnes, it generated 370 kN of thrust. Conceived around 1959, the YaChR-2 was part of the Soviet programme to develop specialised sounding rockets for nuclear weapons testing in the upper atmosphere.
