Mission Profile

The Thor LV2F Burner 2A (Thor LV-2F Burner 2A) was a two-to-three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, pairing a Thor first stage with a Burner 2A solid-fuelled upper stage under the Thor IRBM Program. Standing 23.5 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 52.2 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of first-stage thrust. First flying in October 1971, the Thor LV2F Burner 2A launched classified military payloads including navigation and reconnaissance satellites into polar orbits from Vandenberg Air Force Base.
