Mission Profile

The Minotaur IV HAPS (High Altitude Precision Strike) was a four-to-five-stage American launch vehicle derived from Peacekeeper ICBM motors in the Minuteman family, configured with a precision-guided reentry system for hypersonic boost-glide weapons testing. Standing 23.9 m tall with a 1.7 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 36.2 tonnes, it generated 1,600 kN of first-stage thrust. First flying in November 2010, the Minotaur IV HAPS was used by the US Air Force for testing the Hypersonic Technology Vehicle and other advanced weapons concepts.
