Mission Profile

The Shavit-2 (Shavit 2) is a three-stage Israeli solid-fuelled launch vehicle in the Shavit family, an upgraded variant providing enhanced payload capacity for Israel's national satellite programmes. Standing 23 m tall with a 1.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 30 tonnes, it generates 660 kN of first-stage thrust and can deliver 350 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in June 2007, the Shavit-2 launches westward from Palmachim Air Base over the Mediterranean Sea, a unique retrograde trajectory imposed by geopolitical constraints that limits its payload capacity.
