Mission Profile

The H-IIA 2022 (H-2A 2022) was a two-stage Japanese launch vehicle in the H-II family, a variant of Japan's workhorse medium-to-heavy-lift rocket featuring two SRB-A solid rocket boosters. Standing 53 m tall with a 4 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 349 tonnes, it generated 8,582 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 11,700 kg to low Earth orbit or 4,900 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in February 2005, the H-IIA 2022 served as Japan's primary launch vehicle for government, military, and scientific missions until being superseded by the H3.
