Mission Profile

The Scout 2 (Scout II) was a proposed four-stage American launch vehicle in the Scout family, an advanced successor to the Scout G-1 intended to extend the Scout programme's small satellite delivery capability with modern solid rocket motors. Standing 25 m tall with a 1.1 m diameter and a projected liftoff mass of 21.3 tonnes, it would have generated 464 kN of first-stage thrust and delivered 183 kg to low Earth orbit. Conceived around 1993, the Scout 2 was not pursued as the small launch market shifted toward new vehicles and the original Scout programme was retired.
