Mission Profile

The Space Launch System Block 1B Cargo (SLS Block 1B) is a planned two-stage American super-heavy launch vehicle in the SLS family, an upgraded variant featuring the more powerful Exploration Upper Stage replacing the Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage, developed under the Artemis programme. Standing 111.3 m tall with an 8.4 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 2,630 tonnes, it generates 39,144 kN of liftoff thrust and is designed to deliver 105,000 kg to low Earth orbit. With a planned first launch around 2030, the SLS Block 1B Cargo is intended for heavy lunar cargo delivery supporting the Artemis lunar surface programme.
