Mission Profile

The Strela (14A030) was a three-stage Russian launch vehicle derived from the UR-100N (RS-18, SS-19 Stiletto) intercontinental ballistic missile, repurposed to launch small satellites using decommissioned ICBM hardware. Standing 28 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 105 tonnes, it generated 1,815 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 1,750 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in December 2003, the Strela provided a cost-effective way to convert retired strategic weapons into peaceful space access, launching several military and civilian microsatellites.
