Mission Profile

The Nexus (NEXUS Reusable SSTO) was a proposed single-stage American super-heavy reusable launch vehicle concept, one of the most ambitious rocket designs ever studied. Standing approximately 122 m tall with a 15.2 m diameter, the Nexus would have been an enormous sea-launched vehicle capable of delivering hundreds of tonnes to orbit and returning vertically for reuse. Conceived around 1964, the Nexus was studied by General Dynamics as a future post-Saturn heavy-lift system but remained firmly in the realm of advanced concept studies.
