Mission Profile
The Long March 5 (CZ-5) is a two-stage Chinese heavy-lift launch vehicle in the Long March 5 family, China's most powerful rocket and the backbone of its deep space exploration and space station programmes. Standing 56.9 m tall with a 5 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 867 tonnes, it generates 10,620 kN of liftoff thrust and can deliver 25,000 kg to low Earth orbit or 14,000 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in November 2016, the Long March 5 has launched the Tianwen-1 Mars mission, Chang'e-5 lunar sample return, and Tianhe space station core module, establishing China as a major player in heavy-lift launch capability.
