Mission Profile

The Atlas V Phase 2 Heavy (EELV Phase 2 Heavy) was a proposed two-stage American heavy-lift launch vehicle concept in the Atlas family, studied under the EELV programme as a potential triple-core Atlas V variant. Standing approximately 58.3 m tall with a 3.8 m core diameter, it would have significantly increased Atlas V's payload capacity. Conceived around 2000, the Atlas V Phase 2 Heavy was studied as an option for heavy-lift national security missions but was not pursued, with ULA eventually developing the Vulcan Centaur as its next-generation launcher.
