Mission Profile
The Scout X-1A (Scout X1A) was a four-stage American launch vehicle in the Scout family, an early variant of the all-solid-fuel small satellite launcher developed for affordable orbital access. Standing 22 m tall with a 1.1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 17.7 tonnes, it generated 464 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 59 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in March 1962, the Scout X-1A was used for early NASA scientific satellite launches, establishing the Scout programme's reputation for dependable low-cost access to space.
