Mission Profile

The Delta II 7920 (Delta 7920) was a two-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, a workhorse configuration using nine GEM-40 solid rocket boosters without a third stage. Standing 38.1 m tall with a 2.4 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 228 tonnes, it generated 3,546 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 5,089 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in November 1995, the Delta II 7920 launched numerous NASA scientific missions and military payloads, earning a reputation as one of the most reliable launch vehicles in American spaceflight history.
