Mission Profile

The Delta B (Thor-Delta B, DSV-3B) was a three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, an incremental improvement over the Delta A with a more capable second stage. Standing 28 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 54 tonnes, it generated 667 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 240 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in December 1962, the Delta B launched early NASA scientific and applications satellites, continuing the Thor-Delta series' role as a reliable small payload delivery system.
