Mission Profile

The Saturn S-IVB Centaur (Saturn IB Centaur) was a proposed two-stage American launch vehicle in the Saturn family, studied under the Apollo Applications Program. Featuring a 6.6 m core diameter, it would have paired the Saturn IB first stage with a Centaur high-energy upper stage for enhanced interplanetary payload capability. Conceived around 1965, the Saturn S-IVB Centaur was intended to support advanced deep space missions but remained a paper study as the Apollo Applications Program was scaled back.
