Mission Profile
The Ariane 42L (AR42L, A42L) was a three-stage European launch vehicle in the Ariane 4 family, equipped with two liquid-fuelled strap-on boosters for enhanced performance. Standing 58.4 m tall with a 3.8 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 360 tonnes, it generated 3,558 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 3,480 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in May 1993, the Ariane 42L served the commercial satellite launch market, offering a versatile mid-range option within the highly successful Ariane 4 programme.
