Mission Profile

The Delta 3914 (Thor-Delta 3914) was a three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, featuring nine Castor IV solid rocket augmentation motors and a TE-364-4 third stage for increased payload capacity. Standing 35.4 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 195 tonnes, it generated 3,310 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 1,220 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in December 1975, the Delta 3914 became a reliable workhorse for commercial and government satellite deployments through the early 1980s.
