Mission Profile

The Irtysh (Soyuz-5, Fenix, Sunkar) is a two-stage Russian launch vehicle under development in the Soyuz-5 family, intended to replace the Ukrainian-supplied Zenit with an all-Russian medium-lift launcher using RD-171MV engines. Standing 55 m tall with a 4.1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 530 tonnes, it is designed to deliver 17,000 kg to low Earth orbit. With a planned first launch around 2027, the Irtysh is being developed for both military and commercial missions from the Baikonur and Vostochny cosmodromes.
