Mission Profile
The Scout X-4A (Scout X4A) was a four-stage American launch vehicle in the Scout family, a compact solid-fuelled rocket series developed for affordable small satellite access to orbit. Standing 22 m tall with a 1.1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 21 tonnes, it generated 464 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 85 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in August 1964, the Scout X-4A served NASA and military programmes requiring low-cost orbital delivery for small scientific and experimental payloads.
