Mission Profile

EA-EOLE 1951 is one of the earliest French sounding rockets, part of the EOLE research program conducted at Hammaguir, Algeria. First flying in November 1952, this single-stage vehicle represented France's initial steps toward developing indigenous rocketry expertise in the early Cold War era. Though modest in capability, it laid groundwork for the more ambitious French space program that would eventually produce the Diamant orbital launcher.
