Mission Profile
Shtil' 3 is a proposed three-stage space launch vehicle derived from the Russian R-29 submarine-launched ballistic missile, intended to deliver small payloads to low Earth orbit from submerged submarines. Standing 14.8 meters tall with a launch mass of 40 tonnes, the concept was studied around 2010 as a low-cost option for rapid response satellite launches. It remains unflown amid limited commercial interest in submarine-launched space access.
