Mission Profile

Pegasus HAPS (High Altitude Precision Strike) was a specialized air-launched rocket combining Orbital Sciences' Pegasus booster with a terminally guided upper stage for hypersonic weapons research. First flown on 17 July 1991, the three- to four-stage vehicle demonstrated the versatility of the Pegasus air-launch platform beyond commercial satellite delivery. The program tested advanced maneuvering warhead concepts at hypersonic velocities.
