Mission Profile

Space Launch System Block 1B Crew is an upgraded variant of NASA's SLS, replacing the Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage with the more capable Exploration Upper Stage for crewed lunar missions. At 111.3 meters tall, it is designed to lift 105,000 kg to LEO and support the Artemis program's goals of returning humans to the Moon. The Block 1B Crew configuration is planned to debut on later Artemis missions carrying the Orion spacecraft beyond the capabilities of the Block 1.
