Mission Profile

GSLV Mark II is a three-stage Indian launch vehicle developed by ISRO, combining two solid and liquid strap-on boosters, a liquid core stage, and a cryogenic upper stage fueled by liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. Standing 49.1 meters tall with a liftoff mass of 416,000 kg and generating 6,680 kN of thrust, it can deliver up to 5,000 kg to low Earth orbit. Making its first successful flight with the indigenous cryogenic engine in April 2010, the GSLV Mark II gave India an independent cryogenic launch capability after years of engine development challenges, enabling the deployment of heavier communications satellites and paving the way for the more capable LVM3 that followed.
