Mission Profile

Orbex Prime is a British two-stage small orbital launch vehicle developed by Orbex, a UK-based private space startup, designed to provide dedicated commercial launch services from Scottish territory. Standing 19 meters tall with a liftoff mass of approximately 18,000 kg and capable of delivering 180 kg to low Earth orbit, Prime is designed around a proprietary 3D-printed engine burning bio-propane — a low-carbon fuel intended to reduce the vehicle's environmental footprint. Orbex plans to launch from the SaxaVord Spaceport in Shetland, Scotland, which would make the UK one of the few countries with a domestic orbital launch capability. The vehicle represents a flagship example of the emerging European new space industry's drive to establish sovereign launch capacity.
