Mission Profile

Titan II GLV (Gemini Launch Vehicle) was a modified Titan II ICBM adapted by NASA to serve as the launch vehicle for all twelve crewed Gemini missions, America's second human spaceflight program. Standing 33.2 meters tall and weighing 154,000 kg at liftoff, it generated 1,913 kN of thrust and could deliver 3,580 kg to low Earth orbit. Between 1964 and 1966, it launched ten crewed and two uncrewed Gemini flights that developed the orbital rendezvous, docking, and spacewalking techniques that were indispensable prerequisites for the Apollo lunar landing program. The Titan II GLV's perfect record of crew safety across all twelve crewed missions stands as a defining achievement in human spaceflight history.
