Mission Profile

Delta 4925 was a three-stage variant of the versatile Delta rocket family, combining the Extended Long Tank Thor core with a liquid-fueled second stage and a solid apogee kick motor for GTO missions. Standing 38.1 meters tall with a liftoff mass of 219,000 kg and producing 3,546 kN of thrust, it was a capable medium-lift workhorse of the late 1980s and early 1990s. First flown in August 1989, the Delta 4925 served primarily to deploy commercial and government communications satellites into geosynchronous transfer orbit during a period of strong growth in the commercial satellite market. It continued the Delta family's decades-long legacy of reliable medium-class launch services.
