Mission Profile

The Delta 2910 was a two-to-three-stage American medium-lift launch vehicle from the Thor-Delta family featuring nine strap-on solid rocket boosters and an improved upper stage package for enhanced payload delivery to geostationary transfer and high-energy orbits. Standing 35.4 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 195 tonnes, it generated 3,310 kN of combined first-stage thrust and could deliver 2,480 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in January 1975, the Delta 2910 was used for commercial and government communications satellite launches as the Delta family's maximum-performance configuration before the Delta II family was developed in the late 1980s.
